Northern Institute staff had the pleasure of attending a book launch by Jeff McMullen on Tuesday. The book by Rosie Scott is entitled The Intervention - An Anthology''. Professor Steve Larkin opened the event and a Welcome to Country was given by Bilawara Lee. Jeff McMullen spoke and introduced Rosalie Kunoth-Monks, Elder and Northern Territory Australian of the Year, for her presentation. The event was attended by Vice Chancellor Professor Simon Maddocks.

NT News - McMullen slams ‘sad’ situation - 30 July 2015
A VETERAN television journalist and Aboriginal rights advocate has slammed the Federal Government’s Northern Territory intervention and labelled it “as sad as the Stolen Generations policy”.
Former 60 Minutes reporter and foreign correspondent Jeff McMullen AM – who is in Darwin to launch a book The Intervention; an anthology and host the 15th Vincent Lingiari Memorial Lecture – said the NT Intervention was “another tragic phase” in the making of Australian history....

Mr McMullen said Aboriginal communities needed to be empowered instead of having old policies inflicted on them....
